Warning: As of revision 291, K2 svn requires WordPress 2.1.
Updated the instructions a bit. Please do not post bug reports here. Please post them to the bug tracker.
Here are some steps to take when upgrading from K2 0.9.1:
- Optional: Upgrade to WordPress 2.1. The next version of K2 will require it.
- Important: Deactivate the WordPress Widgets plugin.
- Optional: In the K2 Options panel, click on the Uninstall K2 button. Warning: This will deactivate and clear your K2 options. Ignore the headers error that you get.
- Rename the old k2 folder to something else.
- Download K2 0.9.5, decompress and upload the k2 folder to your WordPress themes folder.
- Copy any third-party schemes from the old styles folder to k2/styles.
- Copy any custom header images from the old images/headers folder to k2/images/headers.
- You can now delete your old K2 folder.
- Set the proper permissions to the headers folder: world writeable (777).
- Activate the new K2 from the Themes panel.
This will be the last version to support WordPress 2.0. You’ll need to upgrade to WordPress 2.1 when K2 1.0 comes around.
Update: Please disable the WordPress Widgets plugin. There’s also a thread for K2 0.9.5 discussions
After several months since 0.9.1, we’re happy to announce the release of K2 0.9.5 RC 1. Here’s a short list of changes from 0.9.1:
- Added support for WordPress 2.1.
- Added support for Custom Image Header, allowing you to upload and crop your header images. Requires WordPress 2.1
- Optimized Rolling Archives and Live Search. If you were having problems with them in 0.9.1, they should work properly now in this build.
- Added Text Trimmer: you’ll notice a new slider next to the rolling archives, slide it to shorten the length of your text.
- The slider for Rolling Archives and Text Trimmer is now hidden on the first page.
- Streamlined K2 Options.
WordPress 2.1 has entered beta. If you’re planning on using K2 with WP 2.1 beta, you’ll need to install the svn version. K2 0.9.1 is not compatible with WP 2.1 beta.
If you’re having problems with Sidebar Modules or Rolling Archives in K2 0.9.1, you can try upgrading to the svn version. We have made substantial improvements and bug fixes with the svn version. The problems you’ve encountered might have been fixed. If not, please post a bug report.
