K2 and jQuery

Good news everyone. As of revision 382, K2 now fully utilizes the jQuery JavaScript library. K2 no longer uses Prototype and script.aculo.us. They are no longer bundled with K2. Rolling Archives and Live Search should be functioning properly. Live Comments needs a few cosmetic tweaks. Text Trimmer is disabled and needs to be ported.

Update: 2007-09-03r405:

As of revision 405, K2’s Javascripts should now load properly with Internet Exploder 7. TextTrimmer has been ported. There are still some problems with the sliders and Internet Exploder 7.

Update: 2007-09-13r423:

The sliders should now work properly with Internet Exploder. I actually ended up porting the slider from script.aculo.us. :) Updated to jQuery 1.2. Looking forward to the new jQuery UI.

True Blue 1.4.1 for K2 0.9.6

Update: There’s a new version of True Blue for K2 RC1/RC2.

True Blue has been updated for K2 0.9.6. The width issues have been fixed. If you’re using 2 sidebars, the 2nd sidebar will appear at the bottom. I’m working on a 3 column version.

True Blue 1.4

Update: Be sure to download True Blue 1.4.1 if you’re using K2 0.9.6.

True Blue 1.4

I changed layout dimensions to match K2 and added support for Custom Image Headers (requires WordPress 2.1). You no longer need to use Photoshop to change the image header. Just click on Custom Image Header found under the Presentation tab and upload your image. If the image is larger than 780 × 200, you’ll have the option of cropping it.

This scheme is also hosted at Google Code. There, you’ll find the latest developmental version, file bug reports/feature requests and documentation.

Download True Blue 1.4 for K2 0.9.5.

Upgrading from K2 0.9.1

Updated the instructions a bit. Please do not post bug reports here. Please post them to the bug tracker.

Here are some steps to take when upgrading from K2 0.9.1:

  1. Optional: Upgrade to WordPress 2.1. The next version of K2 will require it.
  2. Important: Deactivate the WordPress Widgets plugin.
  3. Optional: In the K2 Options panel, click on the Uninstall K2 button. Warning: This will deactivate and clear your K2 options. Ignore the headers error that you get.
  4. Rename the old k2 folder to something else.
  5. Download K2 0.9.5, decompress and upload the k2 folder to your WordPress themes folder.
  6. Copy any third-party schemes from the old styles folder to k2/styles.
  7. Copy any custom header images from the old images/headers folder to k2/images/headers.
  8. You can now delete your old K2 folder.
  9. Set the proper permissions to the headers folder: world writeable (777).
  1. Activate the new K2 from the Themes panel.
